Bingo Wings?
Fat naturally accumulates on your upper arms, and the ageing process doesn’t help either – as we get older we lose skin elasticity which makes skin sag.
But do not despair! There are things you can do to tone the disobedient blighters without spending extortionate amounts at the gym!
The Workout
Dip into tricep exercises – Sit on the edge of your bed or a (sturdy!) chair with your back straight, hands by your side, fingers facing forward and hanging just over the edge.
Keep your legs outstretched in front of you (or, for beginners, bend the knees) – this is your starting position.
Use your arms to lower yourself down so that your bottom is just a few inches from the floor.
Use your arms to slowly pull yourself up again, remembering to keep your back straight!
Watch TV and tone! – We all love the easy exercises you can do while watching Corrie, so try this one for size:
Sit up straight or stand with feet hip-width apart.
Hold a small dumbbell, a bottle of water or a can of beans in each hand – anything you can find with a bit of weight.
Start with your arms at your sides, flex your arms from the elbows up to the shoulders and down to your sides, repeat 10-15 times.
Use your own body weight – Press-ups are one of the best exercises to lose the fat on your arms. If you find it difficult to do the traditional version of a press-up (yeah, we can’t quite do them either!) try standing press-ups instead.
Lean against a wall, standing at arm’s length, legs shoulder-width apart.
Push yourself away from the wall using just your arms. Do three lots of 8-10 press ups.
Row, row, row, your boat! – If you go to the gym or you want to buy a piece of exercise equipment that’s great for blitzing the stubborn flab, then invest in a rowing machine. Set your rowing machine for greater resistance so you reduce the number of strokes per session and work your muscles with greater intensity.
Have a good old stretch! – Granted, a bit of stretching isn’t going to make your bingo wings disappear – we wouldn’t want to give you false hope! BUT, regular stretching will make muscles longer and leaner – as well as maintaining flexibility!
Scrub up! – OK, so it’s not quite an exercise, but scrubbing up can really help as well. Exfoliating, cleansing and toning will remove dead cells from the surface of the skin, revealing a bright new layer underneath!
