Researchers in Aberdeen are set to look at how people might develop poor eating habits because of workplace stress, with the city’s university taking part in an international project.
Among the three areas of study that are set to be looked at by experts from the organisation’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, the impact that stress may have on consumers’ diets will be assessed.
Discussing the scheme, the institute’s head of obesity research professor Julian Mercer commented: "There are a number of issues that need to be looked at, including work culture and its effect on food consumption as well as the different attributes of food that make it hard to restrict your intake."
The Aberdeen research will support the Europe-wide Neurobiology of Food Intake, Addiction and Stress project.
When it comes to healthy eating in other parts of the UK, Camden Council’s website recently announced that it is to offer diet-related advice at an event later this month.
