This is the advice of Janet Thomson, author of Think More, Eat Less, who believes the brain can be more powerful when losing the pounds than taking up strenuous exercises or embracing a strict diet.
She explained to the Daily Mail: “There is a non-stop communication between your mind and body, but the mind is the most important because it drives your behaviour.”
Ms Thomson, who is a nutrition and exercise specialist, went on to note that a person may find it hard to lose weight if their have been given negative messages about the procedure.
For example, she pointed out that descriptions such as “well-built” or “chubby” are likely to stay in the brain, as will opinions that diets have little effect on a person’s body.
Meanwhile, a study by German and Swiss researchers, which was reported by The Sun, suggested that the colour red can have positive effects when it comes to individuals trying to improve their physical wellbeing.
